10 Things to Do for $10 in Denver This Weekend (5 Free!), June 5-7

Summer is the best time in our city, but it can get downright overwhelming with all the events to keep up with. This weekend has almost too much going on, so make sure to check out the Westword calendar for a complete list if this one ain't enough for you. Over the next couple days a plethora of bands will rage, B-Boys will battle and movie stars will be born. If you know of anything else, it never hurts to drop a comment below. 

Denver Tool Library First Friday Rock Show at Denver Tool Library (7 p.m. Friday, free)
This organization is already providing the community a great service, and to top it off, they're going to throw a kick-ass party. Join the Denver Tool Library tonight as you guzzle beer, chomp on food truck treats and bop to tunes from The Knew, Face Man and American Culture. In addition, Boxwood Pinball is bringing their handbuilt pinball tables for competition with great prizes available for top scores.

David Liebe Hart at Seventh Circle Music Collective (7 p.m. Friday, $10)
Most of us probably know Mr. David Liebe Hart from Tim and Eric, but this master of voices and puppetry has been performing for over thirty years. Come check out his wacky stylings at this underground venue to keep your Friday exciting. Hear some good diddles about aliens, trains and love with Hart tonight, with the assistance of puppets, of course. It's a one-of-a-kind experience. 

Garage Fest at Hi-Dive (7:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday, $10)
Anyone can just start a band, but not everyone has the licks to play Garage Fest. All the bands on the bill for the next two nights rip hard on stage, but can party like nobody's business as well. From bands like The Savage Blush (who's been on a tear lately), Denver staple The Dirty Few and legends such as Colfax Speed Queen and The Zebroids, the Hi-dive is going to be thumping this weekend. It's $10 per night, or you could get a weekend pass here for $15.

Denver Chalk Art Festival at Larimer Square (12 p.m. Saturday, free)
The Chalk Art Festival is always worth a walk-through. Every summer, these fleeting masterpieces adorn Larimer Square, and really make you think, "How'd they do that?" The artists — masters of calcium carbonate — will wow you, so come check out one of the best things downtown has to offer in the summer, before they wash away.

Meet The Shannons: Cookbook Release Party at Nooch (1 p.m. Saturday, free)
We all could use a little cruelty-free concepts in our lives, so come meet Dan and Annie Shannon as they discuss their newest book, Mastering the Art of Vegan Cooking. Vegan cooking is surprisingly easy, relatively cheap and good for people, the planet and our animal friends. They're going to give out some samples of Vegan Thai Chicken Slaw and Salted Caramel Skillet Cake as well, so don't miss that.

Sanitas Fest at Sanitas Brewing (2 p.m. Saturday, $8-$10)
It's pretty cool that the breweries around here not only keep us drunk, but provide entertainment as well. Hop on the bus up to Boulder for a day of bluegrass, jam, funk, fiddlin' and finger picking with a slew of bands and draughts of beer as far as the eye can see.

Jefferson Park Block Party and Grand Opening of Elle .B Salon at Elle. B Salon (3 p.m. Saturday, free)
Missy Misdemeanor Elliott summed this party up thirteen years ago, If you a fly gal get your nails done, get a pedicure, get your hair did, boy, lift it up, let's make a toast-a, let's get drunk, that's gon' bring us closer. They got a salon opening up, where you can get your hair did and Highland Tap and Burger, Sartos, Sexy Pizza and Jefferson Park Pub will have the beer for the boys to toast, as well as complimentary food. The Epilogues are going to be there too, how cool would it be if they covered Missy? Feel free to bring this kids.

Red Bull BC One Denver Cypher at Boettcher Concert Hall (7 p.m. Saturday, $10)
Red Bull makes one heck of a drink, but they also know how to give back to the arts community. This event is the premier B-Boy competition in the world and it will make a stop in Denver, where hopefully one finalist will make it to the world championships in Rome later this year. Worm your way down for an all out battle break dancing battle hosted by legendary B-Boy Ivan the Urban Action Figure and music provided by Skeme Richards of the Rock Steady Crew and Hot Peas and Butta. 

Sun Drenched Sundays Music Series with The Social Livers at Denver Beer Co (4 p.m. Sunday, free)
If you spent Saturday at Sanitas, Sunday will give you the chance to hit up another brewery party, at Denver Beer Co. This summer, they're throwing a concert every first Sunday of the month, so that gives you a few opportunities to check something out. Tonight, The Social Livers relax your weekend with that soul-jazz-acoustic rock. Not to mention the beer, but hey, there's going to be plenty of it. 

Something Along the Lines of Dating premier with Poet's Row at The Deer Pile (7:30 p.m. Sunday, $10 donation)
Congratulations to Joshua Allen LaBure & Zachary Gutierrez for making this feature film. Let's celebrate it by checking it out and then be blessed by a concert from Poet's Row, one of the bands who adds to the score as well. Follow the lives of some twentysomethings as they navigate their way through love in many recognizable places around town.
