The great thing about summer is it's nice enough out to hike, but the awful thing about summer is that most of us grown-ups still have to work during the day, so it's tough to find the time to trek. Luckily, 60 Hikes Within 60 Miles: Denver and Boulder has just released a brand-new edition, with updated maps, new photos and new trailhead coordinates; and even some new hikes featuring Kruger Rock and Florissant Fossil Beds. And there's still enough time left in hiking season to take full advantage of this book and all the new features it has to offer.

The best part of the book: The hiking recommendations at the beginning, where you can select your hike according to length, accommodating children or the elderly, hard-core hikes, hikes with some portion of the hike on concrete or asphalt, hikes good for dogs, mostly flat hikes, steep hikes, alpine hikes, hikes along water, wildlife hikes, geological hikes, foot-traffic-only hikes and even hikes that are still fun in the wintertime -- which is, sadly, quickly approaching.
