Hopping on Salon Romantik’s tour bus tonight will take you on a very different sightseeing adventure than you’d have on your typical tourist van or party bus. Fear & Prophets, the newest avant-garde performance from Control Group Productions — and the third in Salon Romantik’s series exploring romanticism — offers a tour of the apocalypse.

Drawing inspiration from a variety of visions of the end times — from pop-culture elements like The Walking Dead and I Am Legend to religious armageddon as laid out in the Book of Revelation and Aztec mythology — the multifaceted performance piece will travel by bus through downtown, Northside Park and the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge. It will include dance, theater, poetry and interactive performance.

“The apocalypse is really about the world becoming much bigger than us and everything we thought we had conquered and put in its place in terms of the natural environment,” says Control Group’s Patrick Mueller. “We wanted to get out into these real environments versus the constructed environment in a theater, wandering from place to place to place.”

The evening starts at 5 p.m. with pre-show drinks at Coohills, 1400 Wewatta Street, and the bus leaves at at 5:45. Afterward, participants will return to Coohills for food and a chat with the artists. Afterward, participants will return to Coohills for food and a chat with the artists.
