The ever-changing canvas of Bella Vista Mexican restaurant is sporting a new piece of street art that is a bit more topical than usual. Today is Back to the Future Day, since 4:29 p.m. October 21, 2015 is the exact date and time referenced in the second BTTF film released in 1989. That movie predicted that we'd have a lot more hovering capability than we do — and as the Cubs learned this year, the film wasn't prophetic in other areas, either. But it definitely made an impact on popular culture.
In honor of this day, artists Gamma Acosta, Delton Demarest and Jher Seno collaborated on the BTTF concept for the wall that's usually Gamma's alone. He phoned in the two artist/friends to help him bring the massive piece to life, and they painted the wall twice over the past two weeks. Part one, pictured above, states "To be continued...," with the Delorean time machine visual. Part two is still being painted: It pairs the time-machine dashboard with a wild and imaginative collage of scenes from the film, including Marty, Doc and the fire left behind by the burning tar of the tires. They even accounted for the epic hoverboard scene with Marty in the tunnel. "Yeah, I'm a fan for sure," Demarest says of the film. "Wouldn't say nerd fan, but a fan."
