Get those vacation requests in and start putting red X’s on your calendar, film fans: The Denver Film Society has announced the dates for the 38th Denver Film Festival. (Starz Entertainment’s title sponsorship contractually ended last year.) The twelve-day fest will unfold November 4 through November 15; the Sie FilmCenter, home of the DFS, will be the anchor theater for screenings and the Ellie Caulkins Opera House will host the festival’s prestigious Red Carpet screenings. Additional venues will be announced closer to the opening dates.

The Denver Film Festival attracts over 55,000 viewers every year and is known for presenting Academy Award- and Independent Spirit Award-winning films — such as The Great Beauty, The Artist, Black Swan, Brokeback Mountain, Nebraska, No Country for Old Men and Silver Linings Playbook â€” well before their collective accolades. What films will be part of this year’s mammoth film binge? We’ll find out when the schedule is released on October 19.

This year’s festival campaign, created by the Denver-based agency AOR Inc., will invite audiences to "Come Sit and Be Swept Away," with over 200 local, national and international independent films, as well as industry panels, workshops, achievement awards and tributes. Also created by AOR, the DenverFilm.org/Festival website will feature an updated look with expanded functionality.

Individual tickets go on sale to Denver Film Society members on Wednesday, October 21 and to the general public on Friday, October 23. Tickets will be available for purchase  at denverfilm.org or the DFF main box office location at the Sie FilmCenter. In the meantime, DFF Patron Packages are available, including Early Bird discounted rates through September 15. You can see levels and benefits when you click HERE.
