Lecture: Feeling for You: Cécile B Evans

Presented by the Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design's Visiting Artist, Scholar and Designer Program, the Fictions Lecture Series offers students and curious visitors alike insight into each speaker's creative process. The current series, which focuses on artists searching for human truths in fantastical settings, continues with experimental filmmaker Cécile B Evans's Lecture: Feeling for You, in which she will interrogate her own digital films, question how technology distorts perception, and speculate about humankind's deepening relationship with artificial intelligence. CU Faculty Tuesdays: William Primrose in Song

The string section's most underrepresented solo instruments, violas don't get enough love. Thankfully, child prodigy William Primrose saw the instrument's potential, and remains a source of inspiration long after his death in 1982. University of Colorado Associate Professor of Viola Erika Eckert pays tribute to the late virtuoso at this week's CU Faculty Tuesdays concert, "William Primrose in Song," offering a medley of compositions the musician transcribed for his own recitals, including Johannes Brahms's "Two Songs for Alto, Viola and Piano, Op. 91." Mezzo soprano Abigail Nims and pianist Margaret McDonald round out the trio for a simultaneously grand yet intimate free concert experience. Charlie Foxtrot Comedy Show

Fill your belly and tickle your ribs at the inaugural Charlie Foxtrot Comedy Show, coming in for a landing on Wednesday. The show — whose title plays off of Stanley Marketplace's aeronautical roots -— is capably piloted by local comic and showrunner Meghan DePonceau, who recruited a top-notch crew of local aces for the first outing, including Jeremy Pysher, Andie Main and headliner Mike Stanley. Find out more on the Stanley Marketplace Facebook events page.

The Narrators: Habit
Wednesday, January 16, 8 p.m.
Buntport Theater
Share and share alike with The Narrators, an evening of true tales for an audience of kind ears. While the organizers of the live show and podcast recently announced that their San Diego spinoff was calling it quits, Denver's edition moves boldly into the new year with host Ron Doyle and storytellers Kat Atwell, Drew Bowlsby, Adam Cayton-Holland, Colleen Leggett, Theresa Mercado and Troy Walker. Blank Slate Comedy Show

Laugh away last year's burdens at the Blank Slate Comedy Show, a gem among the city's dozens of craft beer and standup pairings. Hosted by Kira MagCalen, January's edition enlists local openers Roger Stafford, Benjamin Duncan, Danny Ramos and Caitie Hannan to set the stage for headliner Zoe Rogers. Rogers, who's appeared on NickMom Night Out and Disney Babble Up Late, specializes in cathartic jokes about the trials of motherhood; so call up a sitter and head out to this free show.
