This week in Denver galleries, you'll find pets, parties and plenty of printmaking as Mo'Print 2016 continues. Have a look....
Dane "Colfax" Stephenson: The Ark

Photographer and artist Dane "Colfax" Stephenson takes over Valkarie with The Ark, a menagerie of a show featuring subjects from the animal kingdom: precious pets, birds, bugs — you name it. Taking a cue from the viral world of the Internet, where animal images rule, Stephenson is currently booking appointments “for pet photography, cats, dogs, snakes, hamsters (not together), tarantulas and sea monkeys!” — but if you attend tonight's reception, you can take your chances in a drawing for one free session for your pet, with one free 8 x 10 color print thrown in. Valkarie and Stephenson will also host two pet photography sessions at a special show rate on April 2 and 9, by reservation only at [email protected]. It’s an animal attraction: A portion of all sales will benefit a local animal charity.

Dateline Two Year Anniversary Party

2016 Westword MasterMind Jeromie Dorrance and Dateline are having a party: The indie gallery is two years old and to celebrate, Dorrance will host an open house beginning in the morning and ending sometime well after dark. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., get a retro portrait by Sev Collazo and Amaury Orozco in the wet-plate photo booth; bring a dish for a vegan potluck beginning at 5:30 p.m. And after the food, dance the night away from 9 p.m. until you get tired, with music by Ilind and Tha Bitch Prince. Next up at Dateline: Theresa Anderson and Dayana Ruiz: Plus Two, opening April 8, in conjunction with the Philip J. Steele Gallery at the Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design.
Mo’Print: White Wine and White Gloves

$15, $25 couple, by reservation
Mo’Print rolls on at Space with a White Wine and White Gloves presentation by master printer Mark Lunning of Open Press Ltd., who will provide an overview of print techniques; afterward seven printmakers will showcase those mediums by presenting their work, from the original plates to finished prints — all over a glass of wine. While you’re there, check out Space’s exemplary Mo’Print shows featuring Oehme Graphics and Print Educators of Colorado.

Michael Warren Contemporary also gets into the Mo’Print act with a show of print works from the van Straaten collection, featuring an international cast of artists, including John Baldessari, Lynda Benglis, Caroll Dunham, Eric Fischl, Al Held, Alex Katz, Sol LeWitt, Elizabeth Murray, James Rosenquist, Kiki Smith, Fred Tomaselli and others. Yes, it’s breathtaking. There’s an art talk this weekend, or visit during additional 6 p.m. receptions on the first and third Fridays in April.
