In preparation, the DPL has already digitized a wealth of historical information and records about Denver neighborhoods. Now it's your turn to transform that repository into a mosaic of personal stories by uploading your own images and documents and combining them with those already in the collection. Think of it as a giant scrapbook for Denver history, preserved online on a person-by-person basis. The possibilities are endless.
Sound complicated? To help you get started, the Denver Central Library will host a launch event and demonstration this morning from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Featuring a story by Denverite Gary M. Jackson about his family's connection to the black-owned Lincoln Hills resort that operated west of Boulder from the 1920s to the 1960s, the presentation takes place in the library's B2 Conference Center.
And after that, the Central Library will host monthly scanning open houses in the fourth-floor Community Technology Center, where contributors can digitize their materials (patrons will be allowed up to three items no larger than 8.5" x 11.7"). The first session is from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 15.
