Two of the world's most fashionable streets -- Madison Avenue in New York City and Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles -- now intersect in Denver, Colorado. Kristen and Paige Brown, a mother-daughter team, have opened Melrose and Madison on Old South Pearl Street.

And what brought the pair to this point? While in college, Kristen Brown started out in the tech business, where she met her future husband. Later, as a stay-at-home mom, she and daughter Paige would bond over shopping. They pledged to one day open a boutique of their own, Kristen remembers: "We really enjoy each other's company and have complementary tastes."Paige earned a degree in fashion retail management, and worked for three years in retail settings -- but she always wanted to work with her mother. "We're like sisters," she says. "We have always wanted to have our own store and we work well together."
And now they have that store: Melrose and Madison opened its doors on September 1, at 1500 South Pearl Street. Their concept was to combine two coastal styles in one shopping destination that will appeal to the most discriminating shopper. "We didn't want to be just another boutique carrying familiar lines," says WHO. "So we decided that we would carry different lines that would not be well known to this area."
Some of the lines represented in their fun, casual stock include MYNE, Rory Beca, Ella Moss and Tried and True. The accessory choices provide a welcome change from the Denver norm of Western influences, with scarves from We are Owls and unique jewelry pieces from Sibila.
Melrose and Madison just added shoes from Kim and Zozi and handbags from Tylie Malibu; the owners plan to introduce more lines over the next few months.
