Theater seasons are revving up all over town, and as always they cover the gamut: serious, classic, thoughtful, imaginative, pandering, comic, adventurous, silly or just plain fun. On our random list of upcoming auditions, there's something for everyone. Get out your head shots, confidence and chops, actors. And a sense of humor wouldn't hurt, either.

Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities, The 1940's Radio Hour:

Equity and non-Equity actors alike are invited to answer this call to perform in the popular radio-days-themed holiday show with music, a crowd-pleaser written by Walton Jones that reappears perennially on one stage or another year after year. Make your appointment now for the September 19 and 20 auditions; rehearsals begin November 8 for the run beginning November 29 through December 23. Auditions are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily at the center, 6901 Wadsworth Boulevard; call 720-898-7200.

Backstage Theatre in Breckenridge, Cannibal The Musical:

Backstage, a well-received regional theater that covers ground both familiar and slightly out on a limb, is restaging its premiere stage version of Trey Parker's hilarious film parody about Colorado mountain-man cannibal Alferd Packer in October. If you're thinking you might like to be a mountain man or woman yourself, auditions - by appointment - take place between 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on August 14 or 21; the troupe is also hiring for subsequent winter shows, A Christmas Story, and The Wedding Eve. Backstage is at 121 South Ridge Street in Breckenridge; call 970-453-0199. Theatre Company of Lafayette, Twilight Zone, a Parody (Volume 8):

As noted in the title, this is the eighth year TCL will present its popular Twilight Zone spoof, complete with its own commercial breaks. With three episodes and four commercials to cast, there's a lot of room for all kinds of actors, including a few roles for kids in the 8 to 14 range. Auditions are slap-dash cold readings, 7 to 9 p.m. August 29 and 30 Mary Miller Theater, 300 East Simpson Street in Lafayette, with no appointment necessary. Shows begin October 21.

Lucky 20 Productions, The Flaming of the Shrew:

This group is seeking, to quote: "Ten actors, all male, comfortable playing gay, Shakespearean training in a plus." You get the picture, flamers. Lucky 20 requests that headshots and resumes be sent in advance to Samantha McDermott, Lucky 20 Productions, 4208 Eliot Street, Denver, CO 80211; visit the website to find specific details about the available roles and specify your choice on the resume. Auditions are from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. September 24 at 1133 S. Huron Street.
