On May 21, the still-open Arapahoe Basin Ski Area celebrated sunny spring weather at Colorado's Largest Swimwear Parade on Skis & Snowboards, which was just what it sounds like: a bunch of beautiful ski bums hitting the slopes wearing next to nothing for a lark. A-Basin shared its photos from the event with Westword (see below), and wants everyone to know that there's still another week or so – including Memorial Day Weekend festivities and a closing-day party with live music on June 5 – to get in a last ride on easy terrain.
Saturday, May 28, is '80s Throwback Day, so dig into the wayback machine in the back of your closet to unearth those neon mesh gloves, onesies and rear-entry boots to enjoy a day on the snow. And on Sunday, May 29, A-Basin goes big with more music, a free Rail Jam in Treeline Terrain Park from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the annual Festival of the Brewpubs for snow-boys and snow-bunnies ages 21 and up, from noon to 4 p.m.
Thirteen breweries will be pouring at the base; admission is $30 for general sampling and a commemorative glass (or $55 VIP, which also includes exclusive free food options and a tasting of small-batch brews). General-admission ticket-holders can purchase food tickets for $1 each to build a beer-friendly meal. IDs are required: As A-Basin notes, “It's like going to a bar, you guys!” Visit Arapahoe Basin online for information and tickets.
