“I thought, if I could do something that really invites the public into these spaces, it would be really cool,” says Matelski. “I’m already doing art, so why not create something that’s not a typical setting for a gallery?”
The three-hour-only exhibition will bring art-scene favorite Phil Bender back to Art Farm for another year; his work will hang alongside a mural from local ArtReach students, who danced on a canvas with paint to create the special piece. Live music, local brews and light snacks will round out the family-friendly blend of art and agriculture.
Art Farm runs from 4 to 7 p.m. today only at the DUG's West Washington Park Community Garden, 201 Grant Street. The event is free, but RSVPs are requested; visit dug.org/art-farm to make yours.
