In Terry Johnson’s Hysteria, a dying Sigmund Freud is confronted by the daughter of a past patient demanding a re-examination of the case and meets Salvador Dali, and then everything begins to, well, melt together in a farcical unraveling of Freud's own theories. The word is that Hysteria is hysterical and, at the same time, fascinating; the Boulder Ensemble Theatre Company brings Chris Kendall, Michael Bouchard, Jim Hunt and Lauren Bahlman together for the regional premiere. “In one moment it’s a classic farce,” says BETC’s Stephen Weitz, “the next, it’s exploring the darkest aspects of Freud’s work.”

Edge Theater brings together an accomplished ensemble cast and lands in the trailer park with Johnny "Rooster" Byron, the ne’er–do–well, besotted, drug-peddling protagonist — and one-time motorcycle daredevil — in Jez Butterworth’s Tony-nominated play, Jerusalem. Augustus Truhn takes on the role of Rooster, which won Mark Rylance a Tony on Broadway.

Avenue Theater revives Motherhood Out Loud just in time for Mother’s Day, bringing the multi-author musing on what it means to be a parent to the stage with Barbara Gehring, Cindy Laudadio-Hill, Amie Mackenzie, Jane Shirley and Jeff Kosloski starring in the collection of heart-warming vignettes.
