Seven Best Fashion Events in Denver Through Mid-June

As spring swings into summer, it's time to put your best-dressed foot forward. There are plenty of fashion events in the first half of June, ranging from trunk shows and workshops to hair shows and fashion parties. Here are the seven best places to look your best, in chronological order. 

1) Selin Kent Trunk Show
5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 4
Goldyn Boutique

Goldyn, a womenswear boutique that just celebrates its eight birthday, is hosting a Selin Kent trunk show. The New York City-based designer has a large celebrity following that includes Angelina Jolie, Anna Kendrick, Emma Watson and Gwyneth Paltrow; she's also a favorite with Goldyn. Kent was recently featured in the New York Times, ELLE, Marie Claire and other fashion magazines; her collection embodies a delicate minimalism inspired by architectural shapes and her childhood in Istanbul. 2) Share Denver's Etsy Party 
5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, June 5

Join Share Denver for its second year of celebrating all things Etsy, including fashion. This event is aligned with the Etsy’s theme Kaleidoscope: Paper Taking Shape, so prepare to tear, cut and slice through Share Denver's surplus of magazines and scrap-booking paper — everything you need to create a collage masterpiece. 3) Arrowroot, An Evening of Responsible Fashion
6 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 5

In an age of disposable fashion when consumers are constantly looking for the best bargain, they may be unaware of where their fashion originated. E.A. Lepine is the creator of Arrowroot, a Denver-based line of women’s clothing designed for those who embrace minimalism, are cultured enough to appreciate vintage and bohemian flair, and careful enough to seek out fashion that is responsibly produced. After launching in April 2014, Arrowroot began working with Mi Esperanza, a non-profit in Honduras dedicated to the educational, financial and spiritual development of women living in poverty, with a goal of breaking the cycle. This clothing line is more than a story about a designer collaborating with a group of women in an impoverished community in order to help them, though; according to Lepine, it's the story of a young woman who met an incredible group of women who changed her life. The end result is a stunning line with hints of nostalgia blended with a sense of modernity. 4) Shooting With a Stylist Workshop
6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 10

Denver Style Magazine presents "Shooting with a Stylist," the June installment of its ongoing workshop series. The focus here is on fashion photography, and attendees should bring their cameras so that they can photograph models. Topics covered in this workshop include pre-session planning and preparation, what to have in your "shoot kit," working with a model, communication with the team, understanding the clothing you’re photographing, and working with accessories. The models' clothing will be provided by Vaux Vintage. Tickets are $50; get them here. 
5) Vintage Looks and Modern Twists: A Fashion Show 
5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, June 13
Pennborough Condominiums
1165 Pennsylvania Street

This outdoor fashion show, a collaboration between the Molly Brown House and fashion design students at the Art Institute of Colorado, celebrates historic modes of dress by marrying them to contemporary styling. The show is aligned with the Molly Brown House's current exhibit, Diamonds in the Daytime: The Changing Fashions of Margaret Brown’s World, on display through until August 30; it will be held at the nearby Pennborough building. Click here for more information.


6) Whorl on Wheels at FARMCAD 
10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 13
Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design

Whorl, a womenswear shop in Lower Highland, is on the go this month, and will be at Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design's new event, FARMCAD, a local food, arts and craft market that includes fashion. The event will take place on RMCAD's historic campus on the second Saturday of every month starting in June and ending in September; visit FARMCAD's website for more information. 
7) Historias (Stories): A Hair and Fashion Show 
5:30 p.m. Sunday, June 14 
Exdo Event Center
3500 Walnut Street

Ten of Denver's hottest salons, including Charlie Price, will honor Colorado's Latino culture and community. Historias (Stories) is a hair and fashion show that benefits Centro Humanitario, and also highlights the stories of some of the day laborers and domestic workers who are involved with the organization. The event is 18 and up and tickets are $20; click here for more information.
