Though shopping has a reputation for being more of a girl thing, when you add bikes and bars to the mix, it's likely that more than a few guys can be coerced to tag along. That's not the motivation behind today's DIBS Bike Crawl to a trio of trendy hipster shopping districts, but it could be the happy result. The event, hosted by Denver Independent Boutiques with help from Denver Cruisers and I Bike Denver, will set off at noon from the Denver Wheel Club (and the first watering hole of the journey), 404 Broadway, on a rolling mission that encompasses parts of South Broadway, Santa Fe Drive and the RiNo/Upper Larimer neighborhood.

"It's a great way to see all those businesses you always drive past, all in one place and all at one time," says DIBs spokeswoman Meghan Throckmorton.

First stop will be at a sidewalk sale along the stretch of Broadway just south of First Avenue, with a crochet bike-tagging from noon to 2 p.m., courtesy of the Ladies Fancywork Society, at Fancy Tiger Crafts, 59 Broadway. Then, after a shortcut through the Baker neighborhood, it's on to Renegade Brewing Company, 925 West Ninth Avenue in Denver's Art District on Santa Fe, where local businesses -- DIBs members or not -- are hosting an outdoor market complete with food trucks and a bike check from 1 to 5 p.m. The longest haul goes from Renegade to the Meadowlark, 2701 Larimer Street, for more trucks and trunk shows. The partying there will continue after the crawl ends, notes Throckmorton, since MegaFauna, the boutique next to the Meadowlark, is celebrating its first anniversary.

Hang a basket on your handlebars and start pedaling; for a complete list of participating businesses, go to www.shopdibs.com.
