Sneaker Soiree tonight has a sweet cause: helping girls get healthy

Casselman's Bar and Venue is always hosting an unexpected benefit -- and tonight's is Sneaker Soiree, an NCAA Basketball viewing party that's a benefit for Girls on the Run of the Rockies, a program that inspires girls to be healthy and confident by integrating running into their lives.

"It's about gaining self-confidence," says Kate Kalanick, a volunteer for the event. The NCAA viewing party, tied to the March Madness Sweet Sixteen tournament, will start at 6 p.m. and also features silent and live auctions, food and drink. Guests will have a chance to win weekend stays in Vail, Breckenridge and Grand Lake, as well as tickets to the Great American Beer Festival, to the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, and Rockies and Nuggets games.

Girls on the Run of the Rockies is a program is based in Denver Public Schools, where it helps elementary and middle school students learn about themselves while getting healthy. Tickets are $50 or $90 for two and available on the program's website, girlsontherunrockies.org.
