On Saturday Snowboard Colorado and Loveland Ski Area will co-host a demo-day event featuring next season's gear from at least sixteen different brands, including boards from Colorado companies Never Summer, Unity Snowboards and Oz, as well as boards from YES, Capita, Technine, Salomon, Niche, Echelon, Mervin Manufacturing, Signal, Arbor and K2, and goggles from Zeal Optics, Spy and Smith. Unless you're an industry insider and got to hit up the SIA Snow Show's On-Snow Demo at Winter Park in January, this will be your first chance to test out the 2012-2013 lines. "The whole idea of it is to give people an opportunity to check out next season's boards before they're even on sale," says Snowboard Colorado editor Adam Schmidt. "That way people can figure out what board they want, then spend the summer putting a few bucks aside from every paycheck and hit the board shops in time for next season."

The conditions might be better than you're expecting, too: Loveland, open until May 6, has actually been getting some snow this week and is still reporting a 49-inch base. Print out a coupon at Snowboard-Colorado.com to get a discounted $35 lift ticket, valid 4/21/2012 only, or flash a season pass from another mountain to get a $30 ticket at the window.

And the fun continues off the slopes: Event sponsor Skullcandy will be rocking some tunes, and the Red Bull Concert Bus will be in the Loveland Basin parking lot with DJ Mick Boogie and DJ Spider.
