Street Style: Stylist Bruce Woods, Jr. Spotted in Brooklyn

In the past, we've pointed out that wearing black is the best way to show off accessories — and we found a perfect example of this back in September in New York. While visiting Brooklyn Bridge Park we ran into freelance stylist and boutique consultant, Bruce Woods, Jr.

"I've been styling in New York for seven years now," says Woods, who is originally from Baltimore. He describes his fashion sense as "black, detailed and eclectic." Woods admits he enjoys buying real estate in the minds of the fashion curious, so we picked his brain for style tips, the best places to shop, and how to accessorize. 
Woods wears static grey drop-crotch shorts and a long-line tee with side-zipper detail from H&M. This is paired with a custom-made zipper necklace and sunglasses by Celiné. His thumb ring and black enamel cuff are vintage. Woods' two tri-color woven bracelets are from a street vendor in Brooklyn. He rounds out his look with silver and a gold-tip bracelet and a Hermès chain-link ring.

Style inspirations and icons: I am most inspired by those who push the envelope with regards to fashion. In my opinion, basic is boring. 

Shops at: I'm a big Zara fan, I live in their black jersey knits. H&M for basics. For Designer I love Barney's, Shop UNTITLED, ODDNYC, vintage boutiques. I also support and wear independent designers.

Style mantra: My filter for getting dressed daily can be summed up in one quote."People will stare, make it worth their While," by Harry Winston.

Favorite accessory: My Hermès chain link ring.

Favorite color: Black. To quote Yohji Yamamoto, "Black is modest and arrogant at the same time. Black is lazy and easy, but mysterious. But above all black says this: I don't bother you, you don't bother me." To quote Wednesday Addams, "I'll stop wearing black when they make a darker color."
