Derived from the tradition of the Mexican carpa, a kind of traveling vaudeville tent show of politically driven street skits and comedy popular in border towns of the '20s and '30s, I Don't Speak English Only pokes updated fun at class wars that modern Latinos still live with. Expect broad, biting humor and lots of laughs -- the kind of chuckles that keep you from crying -- when I Don't Speak English Only premieres tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Denver Civic Theatre; the show continues on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, through October 14. Admission is $17 to $20 (If you request it, a two-for-one discount is offered on Thursdays); visit Su Teatro online or call 303-296-0219.
