Andrew Novick takes over the Untitled party this month, bringing in Japanese pop culture to kick off the holiday weekend. Make a samurai helmet or learn how to prepare onigiri or build your own drums. You can also enjoy dance performances and fashion demonstrations set to Japanese pop and Kawaii punk — and meeting Hello Kitty should really round out the night.   

Nerd Nite: Martian Myths, A History of Vinyl, and the Business of Art
The Oriental Theater
6:30 p.m. Friday, $6-9
If TED talks were slightly nerdier in subject matter and featured beer, you'd have Nerd Nite. Tonight you can soak up presentations on "Martian Myths," by Bill Farrand, "Turntables Through Time: A History of Vinyl," by Ian Kimsey, and "The Business of Art," by Kayvan Khalatbari. That's a lot of knowledge for one night, all imparted in a very relaxed setting. You can get your $6 tickets here.

Community Storytelling Event With Comedian Paul Barach

Get to know your neighbors as comedian Paul Barach tells tales from people in the community — and you can even suggest a story for him to read by e-mailing BookBar. The stories can be anything from funny to sad, as long as they are true. But even if you don't want to spill secrets, you'll enjoy hearing everyone else'. Grab a glass of wine and listen up.

The opening of a drive-in is a serious indicator that summer is right around the corner. The Denver Mart Drive In is back, this time with booze. So drive in, bike in or walk in for a double feature of X-Men: Apocalypse and Batman V Superman for only $10. 

Sexpot Comedy Presents: The Nerd Roast: The Office Vs. Parks and Rec

When you're browsing Netflix, The Office and Parks and Recreation are fail-safe. It's tough to say which show is superior, but the comedians delivering the Nerd Roast will do their best to persuade us one way or the other. Such humorists as Byron Graham, Bobby Crane, Christie Buchele and many more will portray characters from both camps in order to try to determine a winner. Sometimes comedic battles are the best way to settle differences.

Get out of the city and over to Bennett, where you can make friends with a donkey.  Longhopes is a great organization that takes care of orphaned and rescued donkeys, and it's offering free tours today.

The biggest art market of the weekend will be at the Denver Pavilions for two days of 100 percent local crafts. You can buy art to spruce up your home, get gifts for friends or have lunch at a food truck. The festival is in its fourth year and only gets bigger and better with time, so don't miss it.

Downtown will be full of sound today, with free concerts on five stages along the mall.Acts like A Great Big World, Marc Broussard, Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers are just a few of the headliners on this roster of more than twenty bands. See the lineup here and start planning your day.   
Something Fabulous 2 Year Anniversary

This risqué variety show is good — so good it's been running monthly for the last two years. This second anniversary celebration will be full of jokes, glitter and tassels as Janae Burris, Christie Buchele and Heather Marulli bring the comedy while Cherry Pop Pop Poppins, Mr. Valdez and Mustang Monroe strut their stuff, burlesque-style. Drag king Jaryde Skye will make an appearance, too, while Jordan Wieleba hosts. The night is presented by Sexpot Comedy and Triple D Debauchery Burlesque.
Propaganda! A Comedy Show with Nancy Norton
Lannie's Clocktower Cabaret
8 p.m. Sunday, free
This is the end of the month, so it's time for the city's best free comedy show. This time Nancy Norton headlines, and the lineup includes Brett Hiker, Ben Bryant, Ethan Sir and Heather Marulli. Since it's a Sexpot show, there are going to be plenty of free goodies to go with the laughs.
