Tom Clark, the executive vice president of the Metro Denver Chamber of Commerce, was one many involved in the ceremony today; he said he remembers coming to Denver years ago and that the location was, "One of the best grungy places in the country."While some of that grunge still exists, the Golden Triangle neighborhood has seen a big transformation in the last fifteen years.
City Council member Jeanne Robb, also on hand, said she was proud to have been a part of several additions to the neighborhood over the past decade, including the Denver Art Museum's Hamilton building, the Clyfford Still Museum and the new judicial center. "the Art," said Robb, "It is the perfect compliment to the art and architecture district in the Golden Triangle."
The nine-story hotel will feature 165 rooms on its upper floors, while the bottom will serve as office space called the Museum Center. Guests can be wowed upon entering by checking into their rooms via their iPads and notice contemporary art pieces selected by former DAM curator, Dianne Vanderlip.
The hotel was designed by the Davis Partnership Architects, who were also behind the Frederic C. Hamilton Building addition to the DAM.
