Here's the challenge: Create a solution to a design issue in your neighborhood. Submissions can be an object, a model, a sketch or a photograph, flat or 3-D, that can fit into a two-foot-square space.
"I've already heard some pretty exciting ideas: a plastic water bottle found in the park can be transformed into a birdfeeder or a plan to attach a blender to a stationary bike so neighbors can 'pedal' snow cones on summer days," says the DAM's Sonnet Coggins. The possibilities are endless, considering how many materials are just waiting to be repurposed.Participants can drop off their finished designs at the museum from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 28 only. Get a list of materials restrictions, along with project examples and ideas, and register your submission at the Open for Design website.
What will you come up with? And what are you waiting for?
