Late last year, spurred by a seeming disconnect among many factions of the local fashion world, style mavens Kathy Bacon and Mona Lucero put their heads together with Ginger White Brunetti of Create Denver and Stephanie Blake of Blake Communications to investigate the concept of a unified fashion board or association for Denver.

Several meetings and an online survey later, they've determined it's worth a go, and tonight, they'll host the first official Fashion Association of Denver meeting, to set up committees that will help decide the group's next steps.

"The main focus of the fashion association is to be a one-stop place to be directed to everything that's happening in fashion in Denver and Colorado," Lucero explains. "Currently, there are at least three fashion organizations, several fashion weeks or weekends, fashion shows and many designers who all don't know about each other, so we feel that in the future, when people have questions about what's happening, they can check with FAD."

Fashion professionals of every stripe, from designers to models, are invited to the meeting, which starts at 6 p.m. at the Denver Design Incubator, to discuss the possibilities, including ideas about a website, a Youtube channel, event sponsorship and other directions.

Admission is free; visit the Facebook event page or the FAD Facebook page for details.
