February may notch up fewer calendar days than any other month, but as far as Denver comedy is concerned, 28 days provide more than enough time to guzzle up every possible giggle. With a series of headliners like Jackie Kashian, Natasha Leggero, Marcella Arguello and Carmen Lynch, the joke scene puts its most femme foot forward in February. Keep reading for the ten best comedy shows of February 2019.

Jackie Kashian
February 6 to 9, showtimes vary
Comedy Works South
$16 to $24

The duchess of dorkdom, Jackie Kashian is comedy nerd royalty. Though she remains Maria Bamford's road-tested opening act and regularly appeared on Bamford's tragically short-lived Netflix series Lady Dynamite, Kashian is ultimately a headliner in her own right, and her skills will be on full display at Comedy Works South from February 6 to 9. In addition to telling jokes on shows like Conan and the Comedy Central Half Hour, Kashian is a steadfast fixture of the podcasting landscape, co-host of both The Dork Forest and The Jackie and Laurie Show. Get tickets, $16 to $24, and more information on the Comedy Works box-office page.

Natasha Leggero
February 7 to 9, showtimes vary
Comedy Works Downtown
$25 to $30

Don't be fooled by the well-tailored cocktail dresses and elbow-length opera gloves: A truly savage wit lies beneath the elegant mien of Natasha Leggero. Co-creator of the gilded-age satire Another Period, Leggero initially rose to fame as a pantsless troublemaker on Reno 911, has subsequently appeared on Arrested Development, Dice and Alone Together, and lent the lilt of her voice to BoJack Horseman, American Dad!, and Justice League Action, in which she portrayed Poison Ivy (who else would you expect?). Leggero returns to the club where she recorded one of her landmark standup albums with a fresh and feisty new hour that unfurls in multiple performances between February 7 and 9. Visit the Comedy Works box-office page for tickets, $25 to $30, and further details. Shows are selling out quickly, so make haste!

Fort Comedy Presents: Todd Barry
Friday, February 8, 7 to 9:30 p.m.
Aggie Theatre
$15 to $25

Precisely the guy for people who like their comedy wry and dry, Todd Barry is just the ticket for even the saltiest comedic palette. A testament to the booking prowess of the Fort Comedy collective, the Aggie engagement represents Barry's only official booking in the Centennial state. Following appearances in Flight of the Conchords, The Wrestler, At Home With Amy Sedaris and The Jim Gaffigan Show, Barry recently recorded a pair of stylistically divergent yet spiritually simpatico standup specials, including the extemporaneous experimentalism of the Crowd Work Tour and the well-honed witticisms of Spicy Honey. Admission is $15 to $25 on the Aggie Theatre box-office page, where you'll also find more information.

The Ruckus Presents: Adam Cayton-Holland With Ramon Rivas
Sunday, February 10, 7 p.m.
Marquis Theater
$10 to $12

Protect your neck, funnybone, and every other vulnerable pressure point when Denver comedy brings the Ruckus to the Marquis Theater on Sunday, February 10. Co-hosted and curated by Matt Cobos, Patrick Richardson and Cory Helie, the Ruckus returns with a top-notch lineup including ShaNae Ross, Ramon Rivas II, and Adam Cayton-Holland. Guffaw through mouthfuls of piping hot pizza when Helie, Richardson and Cobos allow the chuckles to run amok at their inaugural outing. Admission is $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Find out everything you need to know on the Marquis Theater Facebook events page.

Marcella Arguello headlines both Comedy Works locations February 10 to 12.
Kim Newmoney
Marcella Arguello
February 10 to 12, showtimes vary
Comedy Works Downtown
Comedy Works South
$14

Known for her fierce wit, fearless stage presence and imposing stature, Marcella Arguello stands head and shoulders above her competition (pun very much intended). A staff writer for Bill Nye Saves the World who's appeared on Comedy Knock Out, Last Call with Carson Daly and Corporate, Arguello is on a shortlist of the most influential upcoming comics working today. As such, it probably won't be long before she's returning to the Mile High to headline bigger venues. Don't miss seeing Arguello shine within the intimate confines of both Comedy Works locations; visit the Comedy Works box-office page for tickets, $14, and details.

Carmen Lynch
February 14 to 17, 7:30 and 9:45 p.m.
Denver Improv
$20 to $75

Another crush-crusader of Amazonian proportions, Carmen Lynch returns for a Valentine's Day weekend headlining engagement at Denver Improv with a fresh litany of tall-lady jokes. A New York-hewn standup who's told jokes on both the Stephen Colbert and David Letterman iterations of The Late Show, Lynch is a skilled sketch performer who's turned up on Acting Out and Inside Amy Schumer. The bilingual comedian also enjoys a robust following in Spain, where she's appeared on four episodes of TuNite con Lorenzo Parro. Whether you're looking for an unconventional date or a singles-friendly bit of holiday counter-programming, let laughter be your Valentine. Get tickets, $20 to $75, and more information on the Denver Improv box-office page.

Janae Burris headlines night one of Lucha Libre & Laughs: Equal Fights! on Friday, February 22.
Geoff Decker
Lucha Libre & Laughs: Equal Fights!
February 22 to 23, 8 p.m.
The Oriental Theater
$15 to $60

Lucha Libre & Laughs takes a vital, fringe-booted step toward a more inclusive future with Equal Fights!, a two-day extravaganza of standup comedy and intergender wrestling. While some old-school fans may find the spectacle of men fighting women troubling, a vast majority of female brawlers are all too eager to pummel the parity into their male opponents. On night one, Friday, February 22, comedians Matt Cobos, Caitie Hannan and Janae Burris keep the chuckles flowing between rounds that include an intergender tag team tournament between Delilah Doom, Shotzi Blackheart, Ruby Raze, Anaya and Lonnie Valdez, and a title bout that pits "Yoga Monster" Mike Sydal against Taya Valkyrie. The excitement continues on night two, Saturday, February 23, which juxtaposes jokes from John Tole, ShaNae Ross, and Jose Macall with ringside thrills from BlackXican Thunda Xander Kreed and Jordynne Grace. Click the Oriental Theater box-office page for tickets, $15 to $60 each night, and further details.

Whose Live Anyway?
February 22 to 23, 8 to 11 p.m.
Paramount Theatre
$29.50 to $39.50

Short-form shenanigans abound at Whose Live Anyway?, a stagebound adaptation of Whose Line Is It Anyway?, the pond-hopping hit show that turned improvisation games into consistently silly and occasionally thrilling television. Returning to Denver for another round of extemporaneous riffs, the current touring ensemble consists of returning cast members Greg Proops and Jeff B. Davis, along with Fred Murray (Mad Men, brother of Bill), and Kids in the Hall co-creator Dave Foley. Murray and Foley's presence suggests a whole new universe of comedic possibilities, comfortably guided by the well-oiled instincts of their co-stars. Say yes to spending an evening — or two; after all, no two performances are the same — in the quick-witted company of improv masters as they alight upon the Paramount Theatre. Visit the Comedy Works box-office page to buy tickets, $29.50 to $39.50, and learn more.

Langston Kerman
February 24 to 27, showtimes vary
Comedy Works Downtown
Comedy Works South
$14

A banner month for both Comedy Works locations winds down with a headlining engagement from rising standup star Langston Kerman. A contributing writer to the Chris Rock-hosted edition of the Academy Awards ceremony, Kerman has subsequently appeared on Comedy Bang! Bang!, High Maintenance and Insecure.
Leavening his incisive wit with amiable goofiness, Kerman has immortalized his joke-writing prowess on the album Lightskinned Feelings as well as his own Comedy Central Stand-Up Presents special. End the year's shortest month with four days of laughter; visit the Comedy Works box-office page for tickets, $14, and more information.

Haters Roast: The Shady Tour
Thursday, February 28
Fillmore Auditorium
$39 to $54

No amount of protective shade will shield you from the heat of the Haters Roast, an evening of sharp heels and sharper wits. Roastmaster Ginger Minj presides over a dais of divas that includes her fellow RuPaul's Drag Race alums Monet X Change, Alyssa Edwards, Thorgy Thor, Latrice Royale, Jinkx Monsoon and Miz Cracker, who'll each bring their fiercest looks and funniest burns to this cavalcade of comedy queens. All ages are welcome, but the jokes are guaranteed to skew blue, so parents and guardians should be wary if they're not ready to hear their offspring laugh at a joke about tucking. Find links to buy tickets, $39 to $54, and further details on the Drag Fans events calendar.
