More ways to get some action this weekend, after the jump...
Posers! Strike a pose this weekend at the Mountain Pose Yoga Festival at Copper Mountain, where "wellness warrior" Kris Carr's Crazy Sexy Life keynote address tonight at 7 p.m. and Rainbeau Mars' ra'yoka Yoga for Sports session tomorrow at 6 p.m. are among the highlights. Full festival passes are $290, with single-day options starting at $70 and single-session rates starting at $25. More than a dozen professional instructors from around the world will be leading sessions over the weekend, but for a real taste of Copper Mountain ask festival presenter and former Olympic gymnastics hero Phoebe Mills for a tour of the Woodward at Copper ski, snowboard, skateboard, cheerleading and gymnastics training facilities: She's the program director. Mile High mayhem! The Scavenger Dash comes to Denver on Saturday, starting at noon at the Blake Street Tavern, 2301 Blake Street, before sending competitors scrambling all over town in teams of two in an adventure race to chase down a dozen different clues (race day registration is $130 per team at www.ScavengerDash.com) Hippy hoorah! The first annual Treadfest Charity Mountain Bike Festival on Saturday rises from the ashes of the Fat Tire Classic to benefit the National Sports Center for the Disabled. A $75 donation gets you access to 30 miles of trails with drink and snack stops along the way, plus access to Avery Brewing's Grateful Tread Fest for beer, BBQ, bike clinics, live music and an expo with the event's sponsors. GRO for it! Girls Riders Organization founder Courtney Payne Taylor is pissed that the X Games cut its female skateboarding competitions this year and that sports programs for girls and youth are disappearing, trends she aims to reverse with her 6th annual GRO Experience Skateboard Tour. The tour comes to the Denver Skatepark, 2205 19th Street, on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., featuring free skateboarding, BMX and rollerskating workshops and a ladies-only contest at 3 p.m. "Over the last five years we have seen the amazing impact these activities have on females; from the young girls driven to progress to the mom who rides her longboard instead of getting in the car, the stories are endless," writes Taylor. "It is time to share not only these stories but the experience with females everywhere."
