As August ends, September ushers in a fall full of free fun. This week you can explore the city in search of art, learn about the local comedy scene and see plenty at a Nothing to See Here fundraiser. See all of this week's featured activities in the online Westword calendar, and post a comment if you know of a free event we missed.

Art Drop Day Denver  (Tuesday, free)
Use your lunch break to grab some rare art — or take the entire day off so that you can devote it to Art Drop Day Denver, an event that uses the power of social media to create bonds between artists and the community. Using the hashtags, #artdropday and #artdropdenver, you'll be able to find various works of art all over the city following hints left by their creators. You just may discover the latest Warhol in a nearby alley. And if you're an artist and want to contribute, check out additional on the Drop Day Denver site.

Stand-up Comedy Night at Rocky Mountain College of Art & Design (7 p.m. Wednesday, free)
Some of us might have paid more attention in school if our instructors were comedians. Humor is the newest lecture series at the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design, which encourages the use of irony, comedy and parody to teach lessons. The kickoff party tonight will be hosted by comedian and Westword contributor Byron Graham; comedians Hippieman, Christie Buchele, Zac Maas, Janae Burris, Jordan Wieleba and Kevin Klatman will provide a snapshot of the Denver comedy scene during the evening. RSVP to RMCAD here to ensure that you can join in on the fun.

Denver-Denver at Dikeou Collection (7:30 p.m. Thursday, donations)
Get ready for a night of Denver-based film, video, sound and artist performances: This night supporting Nothing to See Here's goal of opening a permanent studio space brings together many artists. So far NTSH has been funded by its creators, Christina Battle and Adán De La Garza, but they need the community's support to keep this program going and growing. Check out a preview of the Nothing to See Here work here, and get ready to support the cause with your presence...and perhaps even some cash.

KEEP WESTWORD FREE... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we'd like to keep it that way. Your membership allows us to continue offering readers access to our incisive coverage of local news, food, and culture with no paywalls. You can support us by joining as a member for as little as $1.
