The mag is in local shops all over Colorado now, and you'll likely get a copy pressed into your hands if you're at any of this month's snowboard movie premiers, including next week's Snowboard On the Rocks at Red Rocks, which Schmidt had a hand in putting together.
"The success of the BSG showed me that we've got a good crew here and a big enough scene to support a new local magazine," Schmidt says. "We've got so many of the best mountains here, the best riders, the best companies, and the best writers and photographers. Colorado's the center of the snowboard universe as far as I'm concerned, and that's where we're coming from with Snowboard Colorado."That's Erik Van Assche on the cover (above), as photographed by local photographer Terry Ratzlaff, boosting a crippler 720 at the Denver Glacier, a not-so-secret urban spot under the Auraria Parkway.

Schmidt says he's planning to publish nine issues a year, September through May, and he's already putting the finishing touches on the October issue, which includes a feature on Colorado's "ghost mountains," long-dead ski areas that that may still be worth a visit.
