If, like us, you spent some of your Labor Day weekend trying on winter gear in stifling heat at the Ski Rex and Sniagrab sales, here's a quick reminder that the day after Labor Day is a great time to buy summer gear. Gotta love living in topsy-turvy Colorado, right? We perused some local offerings to put together a quick guide...

The GoLite shop in Boulder is busy emptying out its online Clearance Closet, with deals on ultra-light clothing layers, sleeping bags, and packs.

The Bye Bye Summer Sale at Neptune Mountaineering in Boulder, 633 South Broadway, ends today, with 20 percent off on packs, sleeping bags, tents, and summer sportswear to make room on the racks for winter gear. The Outdoor Divas shops in Denver (2717 East 3rd Avenue) and Boulder (1133 Pearl Street) are dishing out Divas Deals on women's hiking and running footwear, swimwear and summer clothing and winter equipment and clothing. Wilderness Exchange Unlimited, at 2401 15th Street, is also having its summer blowout sale this week, with deep discounts on Mountain Hard Wear and Patagonia summer clothing, Black Diamond climbing harnesses, Sierra Designs sleeping bags, and Salomon trail shoes, plus the usual deals on lightly-used consignment gear. Stop in while you're in the neighborhood before heading into REI, which is just around the corner and is also heavily discounting summer gear. And, last but not least, if you're shopping for kids' gear try the Kidsport Clearance Outlet at 613 East Jewell Avenue, where you'll find sales on all the stuff that didn't sell last season in the much pricier high-end shop in Vail. We picked up trail shoes, Camelbak packs, and back-to-school clothes for our young adventurers the last time we were in.
