When Seattle’s metalcore powerhouse Botch broke up in 2002, fans were despondent. But the band’s members moved on quickly, and out of that dissolution came some of the best acts of the next decade, including These Arms Are Snakes, Narrows, Russian Circles and, of course, Minus the Bear. Now, after seventeen years of creating intricate yet mellow indie rock incorporating tapped guitar and odd electronics sounds, MTB is calling it quits. And as sad as it is to see such a reliably inventive band pull the plug, it’s hard not to wonder what exciting music will come from the musicians after they go their separate ways.
