Sushi-Rama

Chef Jeff Osaka brought something unique to River North with Sushi-Rama in December 2015: conveyor-belt sushi (kaiten-zushi). The tiny space seats just under fifty, but it's worth the sometimes daunting wait to nab a spot next to the conveyor belt, which carries Fiesta-colored plates around the dining room. Those plates bear just a few bites of Sushi-Rama's rolls and daily specials, giving diners the opportunity to sample the majority of the excellent menu; we love the vegetarian pumpkin dragon roll (Japanese pumpkin tempura and marinated kelp finished with avocado and honey), as well as the briny, crunchy Ocean Salad packed with marinated squid, seaweed, and kiwi. If you're not into the ultimate self-service, fret not: Table service is available, and you can always order from the menu.
