Weathervane Cafe

Kristin Pazulski
Everything about the Weathervane Cafe is as cute as can be. Situated in the bottom floor of a small house on Seventeenth Avenue, the interior seats a mere nineteen people; there are eye-catching flower arrangements, vases and ornamental items (some of them for sale) artfully placed on assorted surfaces, and pictures drawn by local schoolkids decorate the walls. The menu isn't large, but it's well conceived and well executed, with sandwiches, salads and breakfast burritos, plus assorted pastries (some of them vegan). The drinks lineup is about what you'd expect from a local cafe: drip coffee, espresso-based drinks, spicy chai and loose-leaf teas. But you’ll find specialty items here and there on the menu, one-of-a-kind combinations that set the Weathervane apart. And even the standard fare is crafted carefully and served up with a smile, because any winds blowing at this little coffee shop are fair ones.
