Barber says most of the songs were already written, but it took him about a year to track them all down.
"The consciousness about Colfax is taking off in a big way, and the quality of the songs to choose from just keeps getting better," Barber says. "The bands were all too happy to support a great cause, and they all loved Colfax enough to immortalize their affection in a song."
All sales of the album, which is available exclusively at Twist & Shout, will help support the Colfax Community Network, to aid homeless families along the corridor. Barber, also known as the Velvet Elvis, used to do singing telegrams as Elvis for the organization.
"I thought a project like this would be a perfect trifecta -- support Colfax, local music, and homeless families in one blow," Barber says.
