Tyler's dip into Crazytown wasn't the only big surprise of the night. Upon the big reveal of which nine more contestants would become part of the Top 24, we found out that there was still one male spot remaining. We'll have to wait until Tuesday's special episode to find out which other guy made it. One thing we do know, however, is that he is one of these four: Jermaine Jones, Richie Law (from Colorado!), Johnny Keyser or David Leathers, Jr., who, throughout auditions round, gave a young Michael Jackson a run for his adorable money.
No word on whether the judges will bring back another female contestant, to make it the Top 25, but if they do, we hope they select Lauren Gray, who was sent home Wednesday night due to a lack of self-confidence and performance stability. Gray's wasn't the first instance in which a strong contestant was sent home prematurely -- as much as it pains us to say this, remember Clay Aiken? He was sent home but then returned as the Idol wild card; he went all the way to the final, singing -- and losing -- against Ruben Studdard in season two.
The confirmed Top 23 contestants of the 12th season of American Idol are:
Deandre Brackensick Adam Brock Baylie Brown Hollie Cavanagh Hallie Day Colton Dixon Creighton Fraker Eben Franckewitz Reed Grimm Heejun Han Jen Hirsh Haley Johnson Skylar Laine Joshua Ledet Chase Likens Shannon Magrane Aaron Marcellus Phil Phillips Jr. Jeremy Rosado Jessica Sanchez Chelsea Sorrell Elise Testone Erika Van Pelt Brielle Von Hugel
Idol returns next week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for the first rounds of performances during the semifinals. The episodes air at 7 p.m. on Fox 31.
