Update (11:02 a.m.): So what initially appeared to be a unfortunate automobile accident that caused damage to the front of Wax Trax just became even more unfortunate: We've learned from Denver Police Department spokesman Sonny Jackson that the alcohol-related collision resulted in a fatality.

Original item (10:00 a.m.): Car versus building: Car invariably loses. But then again, so does the building, at least temporarily. In a sight that's becoming disconcertingly familiar on this particular stretch of 13th Avenue (see Gypsy House this past December), a car smashed through the front of Wax Trax on 13th and Washington overnight.

The collision took place sometime last night, according to the Wax Trax staffer we spoke with a bit ago, and it involved a hit-and-run accident in which one vehicle hit another that then hit the front of the store. Several sheets of plywood have been installed, and the store should be open later today once the debris has been cleaned up.
