While many of us are daydreaming of summer while trying to keep warm shoveling snow, word that the Hot Sounds at the Denver Pavilions weekly concert series will not return in 2010 takes away one more fun thing to look forward to during the upcoming months.

The outdoor music event debuted a few years ago along two city blocks on the 16th Street Mall in front of the Denver Pavilions shopping center. It went on hiatus in 2009 due to a massive remodeling construction project, but was expected to return this summer. Unfortunately, though, it seems the Hot Sounds series will be joining the other downtown events such as Busker Fest, LoDo Music Fest and Fridays in the Park on the inactive list.

"Denver Pavilions will not be producing Hot Sounds during the summer of 2010," confirms Wendy Manning, Pavilions Marketing Director. "This year, we'll be investing our resources in alternative community-based programming and partnerships that we feel will activate our merchant base for a higher return on investment."

From the sounds of it, uncertain economic forecasts combined with the high cost of producing series and a lack of consistent attendance in years past likely killed the event.
