Initially, Fresh Breath Committee consisted of Purpose, Flawless, Hi-Res, Kontrast, Crystal (singer and lone female), Catch Lungs, Fo' Chief and Skip Ripkin. Since releasing their last full-length album, CPR, the Committee has parted ways with Crystal, who has left the group and moved to Florida, and Catch Lungs has also moved on.
"The Committee and Catch just wanted different things. And it would not have worked out for either side to keep 'making it work'," Flawless points out, noting that "there are, once again, no hard feelings, and we wish him the best in his career."
With the departure of Catch Lungs, the act has added MC Big House to the Fresh Breath Committee. "Big House has been making a name for himself as an MC in Colorado, as well as New York, for many years," Flawless says of the addition. "Being a part of groups like Future Jazz Project, S.O.L.I.D. and LAMP!, he's established himself as an accomplished musician/artist, and he just fit right in with the Committee. The chemistry was amazing."
And the lineup changes don't stop there. The group has also added a drummer to the mix (Scott Aller) and is currently looking for the perfect female vocalist to round out the band's sound. "We have found some gems waiting to be introduced," says Flawless, "and we will definitely do that as soon as we choose the woman who best fits in with the Committee. But be VERY excited."
The crew has otherwise undergone some non-music-related changes as well. Flawless has decided to change his moniker to "Paul Jr.," and Purpose will now be going by Myke Charles. The changes are reflective of the pair's desire to move beyond the confines of hip-hop into showcasing their broad range of talents, from singing to live instrumentation, in other genres such as pop, R&B, soul and rock. "We simply felt we have outgrown those names and wanted something more distinguished and to the point," says Flawless.
We'll keep you abreast of any additional changes. In the meantime, FBC sent over a teaser track of what's to come. Have a listen.
