Looks like massive props are due to the fine young gentlemen of Havok. The thrash metallers just became label mates of Opeth, Obituary, Emperor and Crowbar, by joining the Candlelight Records roster. Good for them, we say. The guys have certainly put in their work since I first caught them way back in 2004. I'm pretty sure the dudes, who were still in high school at the time, had just formed when I watched them channel vintage Metallica better than anyone I've ever seen -- before or since. Right now, the act is putting the finishing touches on Burn, its debut album, which was produced by vocalist/guitarist David Sanchez at Dirty D Studios and mixed by Bart McCrorey at Motaland Studios. The twelve-track disc is slated to be released in early spring. Horns, bros! -- Dave Herrera
