Savoy ahoy! - Savoy, easily one of Colorado's best up and coming dance acts, recently announced they've been booked for the Dallas and Los Angeles dates of Electric Daisy Carnival, one of the nation's biggest dance music festivals. Strangely, they won't be playing this Saturday at the Denver date for Electric Daisy Carnival, although the group's Facebook page insists they will be "partyin at edc colorado for sure....TRIAD REP!" (sic). Maybe they just needed a day off. Local fans won't have to wait too long to catch them again, though, since Savoy will be playing Friday, July 16 at Global Dance Festival. Early Ravers: Speaking of Electric Daisy Carnival, if you plan on catching the headliners, plan on getting there early. Most of the headliners, such as Benny Benassi and ATB, are playing early by rave standards -- both of them will be done by the time 2 a.m. rolls around! Some of the other headliners, such as Kill the Noise who have an 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. time slot, will be done early by any standards. Don't worry, though -- there will still be plenty of acts for the night owls to enjoy, including a 1 a.m. set by Caspa. You can find the whole schedule here. Welcome to the Potcheen - The Potcheen Folk Band, Denver's premiere "Celtic Pirate Rock" band, has added a sixth member to the fold. Multi-instrumentalist Jamie Krutz is the band's newest member. Krutz, who was introduced at a recent Boulder gig, brings the number of fiddle players in the band to three (practically a string section!) and can also handle duties on guitar, keys and drums if called for. You can catch the new lineup June 19 at the Westword Music Showcase.
