Here's what's hot this week in music on the Front Range: On the concert front, shows from Van Halen and Death Cab for Cutie go on sale this weekend, while the Black Keys add a second show; Medic, the Don'ts and Be Carefuls, Oakhurst and the Voodoo Hawks got spins on local radio; and recent albums by the Black Keys and Young Jeezy continue to be the top sellers alongside new releases from Guided by Voices and Ani DiFranco at our local record stores. This Just In: New Concerts and On-Sale Dates


As reported a few weeks ago, Van Halen will be at the Pepsi Center with Kool and the Gang on Thursday, May 24. Tickets ($49.50-$149.50) go on sale this Saturday, January 28, at 10 a.m. at TicketHorse.com the Pepsi Center Box Office, the Dick's Sporting Goods Park box office and at all metro Denver Dick's Sporting Goods stores. Death Cab for Cutie with the Magik*Magik Orchestra will be at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House on Tuesday, April 10. Tickets ($29.75-$65) for this show also go on sale on Saturday, January 28 at 10 a.m. via Ticketmaster.com. The Black Keys, who sold out the April 30 show at 1STBANK Center, have added another show at the venue on Tuesday, May 1, and tickets are on sale now.

While The Black Keys' El Camino is still at the top spot at Twist & Shout, it's moved down in the charts at other stores to make way for new discs like Let's Go Eat the Factory by Guided By Voices, which features the band's classic line-up after a fifteen-year hiatus, and was the top seller last week at Wax Trax and in the top five at Albums on the Hill and Twist & Shout. Ani DiFranco's Which Side Are You On?, released last week on her own Righteous Babe imprint, claimed the top spot at Albums on the Hill, while Young Jeezy's TM 103 is still on top at Independent Records.
