It's hard to believe that it's been a year already since Open Air 1340 launched, but it has been. This time last year -- on Halloween, to be specific -- the station aired its first broadcast, and to celebrate this momentous occasion, the station has enlisted some of the scene's most prominent players to participate in the aptly named Open Air Live Super Sessions, which will air live today from 4-6 p.m. Keep reading to see who's on tap to perform.

The Live Super Sessions will be broadcast live from Colorado Public Radio's Performance Studio in two successive, hour-long sessions. The first one features Steve from FaceMan, who will be leading the group, with Scott McCormick from Boulder Acoustic Society, Kalyn Heffernan from Wheelchair Sports Camp, David Thomas Bailey and Dean Hirschfield from FaceMan on bass and percussion, respectively, Adrienne Short from Raven and the Writing Desk on violin and Tuba Steve from Boba Fett and the Americans on, well, tuba.

The second super group will be lead by Mike Marchant of the Widowers, with Carl Sorensen from the Swayback on drums, Franco Valentino of A.Tom Collins on bass, Matt Close of Achille Lauro on synth and guitar, Josh Trinidad of Go Star on trumpet and Wilson Helmericks of Snake Rattle Rattle Snake on guitar and keys. That group of players is slated to perform from 5-6 p.m. No word on what these outfits will be performing, but you can bet with that group of people it's definitely going to be something worth tuning in for.
