In the spirit of Tom Waits, David Byrne, Nick Nolte and Steven Soderbergh, Brian Eno has just put up a video that looks a hell of a lot like Brian Eno interviewing Brian Eno. Of course, we can't exactly verify that information, but it's worth watching either way. The interviewer is hidden a bit behind some hair and glasses and calls himself Dick Flash, a journalist from Pork Magazine.
What's great about this interview isn't so much the content, but the fact we get to see Brian Eno really enjoying himself. By his music alone, he always seemed like a bit of a drag to be around. As it turns out, Eno is actually pretty hilarious. He handles a multitude of ridiculous questions with laughable responses, and he manages to keep a straight face throughout the entire thing, something even Zach Galifianakis has trouble with.
The -- ahem -- two of them talk about a few different things, from Eno's new record, Small Craft on a Milk Sea, to his career, which apparently started in the 1930s. They discuss the hottest topic in the music business these days -- piracy -- and Eno claims that instead of suing a thirteen-year-old kid for downloading one of his tracks, he sent a roadie to destroy the kid's bike. We'd venture to guess that that might be more of a worthwhile exploit than attempting to sue everyone: Just crush their transportation. An eye for an eye, as they say.
The whole interview is about ten minutes long, but it's completely worth sitting through. Dick Flash's "questions" are phenomenal in a way that one has to wonder if Eno had actually been asked any of these by someone in the past.
