When the clock struck twelve, did you strike out? Time to enter our "My Worst New Year's Eve" essay contest! Leave a comment with your miserable memories -- between 200 and 1,000 words, please -- by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, December 5. (You can also e-mail your essay to [email protected].

The winning essay will be published in our December 16 New Year's Eve 2010 Guide -- and earn its author $100, which should get 2011 off to a much better start. (We'll publish runners-up in that issue, as well as online; those authors will get restaurant gift certificates to Argyll and Japoix.) Please make sure you leave a valid e-mail address (don't worry, we won't share it with anyone) so we can contact you if you're a winner or runner-up.

If you have questions or simply want to share some of the indignities you've suffered, post them below.
