AUTHOR @ CERVANTES' MASTERPIECE BALLROOM | SAT, 6/8/13 As Author, Jack Sparrow and Ruckspin -- two dubstep producers that hail from the U.K. -- produce haunting melodies and captivating rhythms layered with just the right amount of glitchy bass and distortion. The result is totally worth hearing live; the sets would convince any dubstep-hater that the genre holds hidden depths of possibility still being explored by intrepid travelers like Author.

Jack Sparrow and Ruckspin are worthy headliners in their own right, but their collaboration is more than the sum of its parts. They'll perform both individually and together at the Outlook Festival Denver launch party (brought to us by none other than Sub.mission), with Kryptic Minds and Shiba, at Cervantes' Masterpiece Ballroom. (8 p.m., 16+, $20-$25)

BORGORE @ BETA | FRI, 6/7/13 Whether you're a fan of the whomp or not, dubstep is here to stay. Borgore is definitely on the newer end of movement, but the Tel Aviv-born producer and DJ has already carved out his own style within the genre. Former drummer of the Israeli metal band Shabira, Borgore incorporates a similarly sharp sound to his drum and bass re-workings as evidenced on his remix of Britney Spears's "Womanizer." Find out for yourself at Beta with Mystical Influence and Dayquill (in the Beatport Lounge, P.U.N.C.H.I.S. presents Sergei Loginov and Jens Irish.) -- Bree Davies

FRIDAY, JUNE 7

Pat Lok, option4, Keepers, Tony Whitfield, Algorythm Projekt, Alan Endorfun and Marshall Monica all make an appearance at NORAD for so much ridiculously good house music that you won't know what to do with yourself (besides dance, of course). (9 p.m., 21+, $8)

Munson Meeks and Dobryman are the guest stars at this week's Friday night Bar Standard extravaganza; you'll also find Fun Factory and MantaRay on the decks. (9 p.m., 21+, $5)

SATURDAY, JUNE 8

DJ Dan joins Cognition + T-Rav, Jaceo and Vedic Dublin for a night of house vibes at Beta this weekend. (9 p.m., 18+, $10)

The illustrious Roman Flügel and local favorite Greg Eversoul will scorch the dancefloors at NORAD (with Wuki, Spencer Foreman and Samples in the lounge) -- it's Flügel's inaugural visit to Denver, and we're sure the underground techno impresario will make it a memorable night. (9 p.m., 21+, $10-$15)

And of course, the party can't end there -- head to a to-be-announced location for more tunes at an after-hours with Steofan, Maya Amack and more. Keep yourself posted at the event Facebook page. (2 a.m., 21+)
