The space at 2301 Blake Street has gone through a number of incarnations over the last few decades, including a run as Polly Esther's. In June 2010, the Blake Street Tavern moved into the space after its seven-year run at its former location a block north, and in February last year, the folks behind the tavern opened the Basement underneath with a lighted dance floor in homage to Polly Esther's, where DJs spun '80s-centric music (and some tunes from the '70s and '90s thrown in for good measure).
