A shooting that took place on late Friday night in Aurora has already led to an arrest.

The incident took place at the 6th Avenue Liquor Store, 10300 East 6th Avenue. When police arrived, they found that Benigno Morales-Ramirez, 24, had been shot, and he subsequently died of his wounds. Then, moments ago, the APD revealed that Elon Raynell Wynn Robinson, twenty, is being held on investigation of felony murder in relation to the incident.

Arrest Made in Connection with Liquor Store Shooting

Aurora, Colo. -- Aurora Police have made an arrest in connection with a fatal shooting that took place last Friday night at a liquor store.

Over the weekend, Police arrested 20-year-old Elon Raynell Wynn Robinson of Aurora. He is being held without bond in the Arapahoe County Jail for investigation of Felony Murder in connection with an aggravated robbery that took place at the liquor store. Major Crimes Unit detectives are withholding his arrest photo at this time.

Police are identifying the victim who died during the robbery as 24-year-old Benigno Morales-Ramirez of Aurora.

Information Previously Released on Saturday, April 10, 2010, at 9:12 pm

On Friday, April 9, 2010, shortly after 11pm, Aurora Police Officers responded to a business in the 10300 block of E. 6th Avenue on a report of an assault with a gun.

Officers arrived at the liquor store and found a man suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds. He was transported to the hospital, but later died from his injuries.

After determining the suspect(s) had fled the area, Officers secured the scene, began a preliminary investigation, and canvassed the area for potential witnesses and evidence. A team of Major Crimes Unit (MCU) detectives and personnel from the Crime Scene Investigation Unit (CSI) also responded to the scene and the hospital where the victim was transported to conduct further investigation.

In the hours that followed the shooting detectives have been working to track down leads, interview witnesses, examine evidence, and execute search warrants.

Detectives are not releasing suspect information or a motive for the shooting at this time. The victim's identity will be released once he has been positively identified.
