The DPD reportedly sees a connection between the Jefferson County robbery and bump-and-runs on the 1600 block of Gaylord Street at 2:31 a.m. on April 25; 303 Josephine Street at 9:33 p.m. on April 25; and 12:30 a.m. near the intersection of East Wesley Avenue and South Quebec Street on May 1.
Victims in these incidents have offered descriptions of the rip-off artist and his vehicle that are similar to ones from Jefferson County: an older African-American, bald or nearly bald, around six-feet tall and 230 pounds and wearing a dark-colored leather jacket and driving an Acura with tinted windows.

Original item, 2:30 p.m. May 4: According to the Jefferson County Sheriff's office, so-called bump and run robberies, in which a thief gets into a minor traffic accident as a pretext to ripping off a driver, have been reported throughout the metro area. But thanks to a recent victim, they've got a sketch of a suspect -- one whose slick whip suggests he's making plenty of coin from crime.
The latest incident took place last Thursday, when a woman leaving a south Jeffco Target was greeted by a guy standing next to what's described as a newer-model black Acura with tinted windows. They exchanged pleasantries and then off she went. But when she looked back, she saw the Acura behind her -- so close behind her, in fact, that when she braked to a halt at a stop sign, it rear-ended her.
The woman got out of the vehicle and immediately recognized the driver as the same guy who'd spoken to her at Target. But she tried to play it cool, checking out the rear of her car and telling him that since there was no damage to either vehicle, they didn't need to report the accident.
She soon had something else to report, though. As she was moving toward the driver's side of her car, the guy pushed her out of the way, reached inside and grabbed her purse. After a brief struggle, he then sped away, accompanied by a woman who'd been in the Acura since the jump but hadn't stepped out of it.
