While the majority of Coloradans are too busy enjoying the weather and spending their time outside at public events like baseball games, beer festivals and concerts (where you can't legally partake), July still holds some annual stoner competitions that make up for a slow-burning month.

Broadway dispensary Denver Relief's charity group GREEN TEAM will be assisting Ekar Farms in planting and harvesting organic produce for local food banks on Wednesday, July 22, at 5:30 p.m. at Ekar Farms, 6825 East Alameda Avenue. Free food, drinks and GREEN TEAM T-shirts will be provided for volunteers. Check out the event's Facebook page to learn more. An RSVP is required.

Abakus magazine will host its second annual Munchie Cup — an awards ceremony for commercial edibles that doubles as a seminar on the subject — at Green Labs, Friday, July 24, through Sunday, July 26. Attendees can get judge passes — which include admission to the event's business seminars, concerts and VIP room at Green Labs — for $30 at the Abakus website. 21+

Local artist Heidi Keyes will teach her 21+ Puff, Pass and Paint class at 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 25, at 2900 Marion Street. All equipment is included in the $50 admission, and although cannabis consumption (bring your own) is encouraged, it's not required. Go to the Puff, Pass and Paint website for more information.

The National Cannabis Industry Association and ServSafe will hold a training course for food handlers in the cannabis industry on Wednesday, July 29, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the lower level of the Colorado Restaurant Association, 430 East Seventh Avenue. The class is $67 for National Cannabis Industry Association members and $87 for non-members. Students will receive certification in handling pot-infused foods upon course completion. Go to the NCIA's events page for registration and membership information.

The Colorado Invitational Bong-a-Thon returns to Colorado Friday, July 31, and Saturday, August 1. The competitive toking and celebratory gathering's location is on a need-to-know basis until you buy an $80 ticket  ($420 for VIP access to the dab bus), but the group's Facebook page says it's about a two-and-a-half-hour drive from Denver. Visit the Bong-a-Thon website to learn more.
