But a new poll suggests that this combination may not be the most potentially popular 2011 superteam.
Yesterday, Slam Online published a so-called "Superfriends" poll introduced like so:
The Decision is still the talk of the league with everyone from Michael Jordan to Marion Barry throwing their two cents in. Kevin Durant and Carmelo Anthony have stated they have no interest in joining Miami, they'd like to compete with them. Which makes us wonder, what would be another great super team?
That's followed with the question, "What is another Superteam you'd like to see?" Readers are given the option of Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony & Amare Stoudemire; Deron Williams, Kevin Durant & Dwight Howard; Steve Nash, Dirk Nowitzki & Yao Ming; and Tony Parker, Kobe Bryant & Pau Gasol. And at this writing, here are the results:
Yep, the Melo-Paul-Stoudemire triumvirate has actually garnered less support than the prospect of seeing Durantula and Superman combine forces with D-Will.
Of course, either of these trios would be fearsome, giving the Heat's LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade a run for their enormous pile of money. But we've got to agree with one Slam commenter, who writes, "I would like to see CP3, Melo and Amare team up... but only if it happens in denver."
Word.
