Police Request Assistance in Locating Child Sex Assault SuspectAurora, Colo. -- The Aurora Police Department is requesting the assistance of the media and the public in locating a 20-year-old suspect wanted in connection with sexually assaulting a young child.
The Crimes Against Children Unit has obtained an arrest warrant for Daniel Evaristo Hernandez-Ramos, DOB: 10/22/1988, for Sexual Assault on a Child and Child Abuse - Serious Bodily Injury.
The suspect has been described to investigators as a 20-year-old Hispanic male, approximate height -- 5'8", approximate weight -- 150 lbs. with a slim build and short hair. The suspect is believed to have a tattoo on his arm. It is not clear as to which arm the tattoo is located. The tattoo design is described as a heart with flames. The name "Daniel" appears on or adjacent to the heart.
Two photos of the suspect, who was photographed wearing a yellow polo shirt, have been sent along with this news release.
The investigation has revealed in part that on Sunday, August 9, 2009, shortly after 9:30pm, officers were dispatched to an apartment complex in the 11200 block of East Alameda Avenue on report of a sex assault involving a child under the age of five. Arriving officers found a distraught mother who told officers her daughter was sexually assaulted. The child was immediately transported to the hospital.
Crimes Against Children detectives responded to the scene and the hospital to conduct additional investigation. Detectives also began taking steps to identify and locate the suspect. Despite significant efforts by law enforcement to locate the suspect, he remains at large.
