The Denver Post has tried to woo former subscribers to the Rocky Mountain News by reminding them of the ex-Rocky journalists now scribbling for the broadsheet -- but at least two of their efforts to date have been spelling-challenged. In mid-March, the Post touted the work of Kevin Vaughan via a newspaper-rack display that referred to him as "Vaughn." Now, a subscription-renewal mailer that went out to Rocky loyalists spells reporter Lynn Bartels' name as "Bartles."

What led to this last mistake? Here's a possible clue: "Bartles" is the spelling used by Bartles & James, the well-known winemaker...
